Junior French Club Celebrate King’s Day
Our Junior French Club, Les Petits Filous, celebrated King’s Day (Epiphany) in traditional style. They watched a video about how “La f锚te des rois” is celebrated in France. French people celebrate the Epiphany by eating the 鈥済alette or le g芒teau des rois鈥 (kings鈥 cake) with a great ceremony. Tradition has it that the youngest family member goes under the table to distribute the slices to the people sitting around it. The person who finds the lucky charm in their slice of 鈥榞alette鈥 becomes the king (or queen) of the day.
Our Petits Filous were very keen to follow the French tradition and eat their first ” g芒teau des rois鈥. However, before eating the cake, they made their own crown, hoping to wear it should they get the lucky charm. Rosie W. and Daniel X. were delighted to be the king and queen of the day.
A bient么t les Petits Filous for more adventures and more French traditions involving food! See you for “La Chandeleur” next.
