MS. M. SHAH

Trustee

Chair of Trustees

Monisha is a media professional with experience of broadcast and digital media. Her current Board appointments include Ofcom鈥檚 Content Board and the Office for Students, the Higher Education regulator for England. She is the senior independent member (Chair) of the Arts and Humanities Research Council (UKRI) and also Chair of the Queen鈥檚 Counsel Appointments Panel. In a voluntary capacity, she serves as Trustee of the Art Fund and chairs Wikimedia UK. In previous roles, she has served as Trustee of Tate, National Gallery, Foundling Museum and the Donmar Warehouse. She was also Chair of Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance for 6 years.听In December 2015, Monisha was invited by the Prime Minister to join the Committee on Standards in Public Life. Her last executive role was at BBC Worldwide, where she worked for 10 years before stepping down in 2010. Monisha has a post-graduate degree from SOAS, an executive MBA from the London Business School and was elected Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

MS C. BLACK-NYAGA

Christine has a BA in Social work from Kingston University and St George鈥檚.

Christine currently works for the Royal Borough of Kingston working as a Team Manager. She has worked with children who have witnessed or experienced domestic violence from their care givers as well as carers who abuse substances and have diagnosis of mental ill health. She has a good understanding of the Looked after Children process, has been involved in placing children in care.

MR. C. BOUTTLE

Chris Bouttle was educated at Reigate Grammar school (1980 -1986) he then went on to join the graduate training programme at Marks & Spencer plc, where he qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant.

He is currently the Finance Director for World Duty Free Group UK Ltd the principle UK operating subsidiary of Dufry AG, the market leader in travel Retail.

He chairs both the Finance & General Purposes Committee and the Investment Committee and is a member of the Prep School Committee.

The Reverend Bridget J Banks

Trustee

Bridget Banks was educated at Lavant House school and then went on to do A levels before completing nursing at Southampton University School of Nursing. She did Midwifery at Oxford and then did various research projects for the Department of Health and Oxford University.

While training for the Ministry in the United Reformed Church she worked as a Community Development consultant. She was ordained in July 2006 and has recently been inducted as Moderator of Southern Synod. She now has care for over 140 churches and 48 ministers.

Bridget is the United Reformed Church appointed Trustee and is a member of the Welfare, Child Protection & Safeguarding Committee.

 

MR. O. BYRNE

Trustee

Oliver is an Old Caterhamian and a practising solicitor. After leaving Caterham he studied Politics (B.A. Hons) at the University of Warwick and undertook his legal studies at Nottingham Law School. After qualifying in 2007, he worked for a number of years for various City law firms before moving to in-house legal roles. He is currently General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Trident Energy, an exploration and production company with a focus on emerging markets.

He is a member of the Compliance Committee and the Welfare, Child Protection and Safeguarding Committee.

 

MR D. CHALMERS

David has a B.Sc in Computing Science听 from Aberdeen University, Aberdeen, Scotland.

David is an IT evangelist and leader with some 41 years鈥 experience of successful customer engagement and development. He was brought into Amazon Web Services (AWS) to lead the development and expansion of the Solution Architecture function in EMEA. On joining this diverse team (country and account based, deep technical specialist, performance innovation and more recently CSM) it was approximately 400 strong and he has led the development and diversification to what will be 1000+ staff in 2022.

As the technology member of the EMEA Leadership team David is part of both the planning and operational management of the rapidly growing (~50%/year) and changing AWS business. He spends significant time working with customers and partners as a strategic advisor and executive sponsor to help them grow, develop and make the most of technology to aid their business aims. These organisations range in scale from smaller, fast moving software functions to larger scale, more traditional enterprise organisation.

DR. S.R. CRITCHLEY

Trustee

Stephen Critchley was educated at Leeds Grammar School and Oriel College, Oxford, where he read Chemistry. After a spell in industry, he returned to the University and was awarded a D. Phil. in X-ray Crystallography. He subsequently trained as a Chartered Accountant and had a wide-ranging career in the accountancy profession, latterly leading the Public Sector practice of PwC in the East Midlands. He听left the profession to become Chief Finance Officer of听Transport for London from which he has recently retired. Stephen is听a Trustee of the RAF Benevolent Fund, sits on the Finance Committee and the Risk and Audit Committee of United Learning and is听a member of the Audit Committee of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He is also actively involved in community activities in his local village.

He is a member of the Finance & General Purposes Committee and the Investment Committee.

MS. A. FLETCHER

Trustee

Anne is a highly experienced Early Years childcare professional and was the Manager of the Ide Hill Pre-School for some 14 years.

She joined Ide Hill C E Primary School as a Governor in October 2009 with the key focus on Early Years and Transitions. She was appointed Chair of Governors in 2012.听

Three of her children attended 色播五月 and during that time she was the Chair of the Parents鈥 Association for three years.

Anne is a longstanding member of the 色播五月 Foundation.

She is the Chair of the Prep Committee and is a member of the Compliance and Welfare, Child Protection & Safeguarding Committees.

MS. D. GRIMASON

Trustee

Deborah was brought up in Northern Ireland and was educated in Dungannon High School for Girls Grammar and is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries. Deborah studied English Literature and Philosophy (B.A. Hons) and undertook a conversation law degree and solicitors finals at Christleton Hall Law School. After qualifying in 1987, Deborah has worked as a lawyer mostly in international industry roles, but also in private practice in London. She is currently General Counsel and Company Secretary to the Board of Ceres Power, a UK – based engineering and technology solutions provider, developing clean energy to address climate change and improve air quality.
Deborah is the chair of the Compliance Committee and the Welfare, Child Protection and Safeguarding Committee.

MS. ZEHRA JAFFER

Trustee

Zehra is an experienced senior leader, who has had significant impact on school improvement in several schools including inner city comprehensives and a selective grammar. As of January 2019, Zehra is Headteacher of Stoke Newington School and Sixth Form, the largest community school in the London Borough of Hackney. She is passionate about the equality of opportunity and for all young people to achieve their potential by experiencing outstanding educational provision.

MR M. MEAR

Trustee

Mark was educated at 色播五月 (1976-1985), has been a member of the School Foundation since 2017 and was Vice-President of the Old Caterhamians鈥 Association听from听2018 to 2021. He joined the 色播五月 Board in early 2019.

After leaving Caterham, Mark studied Combined Honours, Business and French, at Aston University (including the award of a Licence d鈥橝nglais at The University of Orl茅ans), and went straight on to complete an听MBA at Aston Business School.

Mark is a听commercial听and people specialist and his career, over some 30 plus years, has been principally focused on the development of talent within some of the UK鈥檚 leading insurance broking and retail leisure听businesses as a Strategic Consultant, Operations Director and Sales Director 鈥 most notably as a senior Executive Director and shareholder at the Saga Group for some eleven years.

Since 2021, Mark has been the Managing Director of a Property Investment business, but听regularly听consults on an ad-hoc basis in the world of financial services and听commercial听operations.

Mark is a local resident and has had two听children go through听Caterham since Nursery, one now at University and one in the Senior School.

Mark is a member of both the Prep and Compliance Committees and takes the lead on behalf of the trustees on projects with a commercial focus.

MR S. SWAYNE

Steve studied Economics at Hull University and went on to complete an MBA at Bradford University Business School.

Steve is the founder and Chair of Kingsgate, which has been delivering successful change for organisations in difficult and challenged situations for over 17 years. As a professional service firm,听Kingsgate provides听delivery solutions ranging from turnarounds to organisation-wide transformation within the public and private sectors.

Steve is also the co-founder and Chair of Dearden HR, an established human resources consultancy providing solutions for complex people issues for over 25 years. He is a thought leader in turnaround, having recently stepped down as Chair of The Institute for Turnaround.

Steve is an active business angel, with a particular focus on medtechs and start-ups with female founders.

MS. M. WHENMAN

Trustee

Mary was educated at 色播五月 (1985-1987) and served as Vice-President of the Old Caterhamians Association for three years until March 2018. Mary joined the 色播五月 Board in 2018.

After leaving Caterham, Mary studied Business Studies at Bournemouth University and has since pursued a career in public relations. Mary is Director, Communications at the British Business Bank, the UK鈥檚 government-owned, business development bank. Mary brings extensive reputation management and communications capabilities to the Board of Trustees. She is also a diversity advocate within her industry and is recent, past President of Women in PR, an advocacy and networking group for senior women working in the communications industry. In 2018, Mary was made a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations in recognition of her 25+ years鈥 contribution to the profession.

Mary is married and lives in Surrey with her husband and three sons, one of whom is a pupil at Caterham.

Mary is a member of the Welfare, Child Protection & Safeguarding Committee.
